What safety means to our business
Arrium is very committed to becoming world class in safety so that our employees, contractors and visitors can go home safely each day. As one of our two Core Values, along with Customer, safety is forefront in our business.
Arrium's Lost Time Injury Frequency Rate (LTIFR) in FY15 was an eight per cent improvement from the previous year. The Medical Treatment Injury Frequency Rate (MTIFR) was slightly higher than FY14. Pleasingly, Arrium had no fatalities for FY15. Our Significant Near-Miss Frequency Rate (SNMFR), a new indicator recorded since FY12, was also down from the previous year (refer to graphs above).

Goal Zero is Arrium’s safety vision that guides our approach. It’s a common commitment that we have to work in a way that keeps ourselves and others free from injury because we care. We value Goal Zero deeply because we understand the impact an injury can have on our fellow workmates, our partners, our children, ourselves and our way of life.
Our aim is that all of our global employees hold a personal belief in Goal Zero, applying it equally at home and at work. Achieving this vision requires a commitment from each of us to look out for each other each day.
Arrium Safety Excellence Awards
The annual Arrium Safety Excellence Awards is an opportunity to recognise and reward those employees, contractors and suppliers who make an outstanding contribution towards our goal of injury prevention and the reduction of incidents. These awards also provide a platform to encourage the sharing of best practice across Arrium.
Winners receive a donation to the charity of their choice as we are passionate about giving back to the communities in which we operate.
